What: The national average for gas prices have went up about 16 cents the past two weeks. Regular was $2.96, mid-grade was $3.08 and premium was $3.19. Newark, New Jersey claimed the lowest with $2.73 per gallon while San Francisco was the highest at $3.28 a gallon.

Why: The gas prices keep climbing with the oil barrels reaching a record high at selling price. Americans are going to have to start carpooling to work with others to save money for gas.
