ELECTION

Where: Iowa

Who: Mike Huckabee

What: The Republican side had a new leader in the latest poll in Iowa. Mike Huckabee has a small lead over Mitt Romney, who had held the top spot for months. He had 29 percent to Romney's 24. Barack Obama holds a small lead over Hillary on the Democrat side.

Why: Iowa is very important because it's so big and basically whoever wins Iowa wins the presidential election. Huckabee is in a good position.

SPORTS

Where: U.S.

Who: College Football

What: On Saturday, all Missouri and West Virginia had to do was win. Missouri played Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship and West Virginia played an average Pittsburgh Panther team. Missouri wound up losing 38-17. West Virginia lost 13-9 at home of all places. That led to the way of LSU and Ohio State meeting in the National Championship.

Why: College Football needs at least an 8 team playoff so that the best team will win instead of everyone feeling like their team got left out of the National Championship.

BUSINESS

Who: TOM Group

What: TOM Group, based in Hong Kong, has announced they have invested $60 million into the onlince social network, Facebook. No one has confirmed the transaction yet. Last month, Microsoft invested $240 million into Facebook.

Why: This would help the Chinese based company in the stock market industry. Its shares went up from $.10 to $.12.

TECH

Who: PopSci

What: Baking soda could help save the planet. Its a plan to curb global warming by feeding it to algae to create biofuel, or burying it underground. They want to turn carbon dioxide into Baking soda that could be sold for home or industrial use and could also be buried in landfills.

Why: This could help control global warming by eliminating carbon dioxide in the air.

WORLD

Who: Kurd Rebels and Turkish Military

What: The Turkish Military attacked 50 to 60 Kurdish Rebels inside Iraqi territory. Officials do not know if they attacked in Iraq or started firing while in Turkey.

Why: This helps create more tension in the Middle East, where there is already too much.

Where: Northeast United States

Who: Everyone living in Northeast

What: Snow, sleet, and freezing rain hit the northeast hard on Sunday. Air travel has been tied up and 10 road deaths have been blamed on the weather. Maine received 20 inches of snow, while New York got 13 inches.

Why: Everyone traveling via airplane has been delayed quite awhile because the Midwest also got pounded with sever snow weather over the weekend.

Where: Fishers, IN

Who: Clarian Health

What: Clarian Health has set groundbreaking for a new $180 million hospital along I-69 for next spring. It will be 250,000 square feet and be host to 40 beds. Expected completion will be 2010.

Why: Fishers is one of the fastest growing cities in Indiana and will continue to grow thanks in part of being a suburb of Indianapolis. People around there will be able to get to a hospital faster.

Who: Private Fleet

What: Private Fleet secured a $4.4 million contract to expand its business. Private Fleet Backhaul specializes in moving freight with private business transportation. The business will expand to 26 employees but is estimated to be around four times that in two years.

Why: Anderson is continuing to grow as an economy and create more business opportunities. This city has seen all of the manufacturing plants leave, but has resurfaced with new businesses coming to town.
